1. RailTel Corporation is a Navratna Company owned by Ministry of Railways. RailTel has a strategic relationship with the Indian Railways and it undertakes short haul connectivity between stations and long-haul connectivity to support various train control and command systems on the Indian Railways. RailTel also provide various passenger services including Video Surveillance, Data Center services, Internet connectivity and also runs world’s largest free public Wi-Fi network across railway stations in India.

4. It is presumed that nearly 10000 licenses will be issued to Technicians/ supervisors of Indian Railways and executives of Signalling and Telecom System Integrators/ OEMs working on Railways in next 4-5 years.

Railtel Corporation of India Limited as assessing organisation of Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (UK) shall be operating the Licensing Scheme for Competence Management in the Railway S&T field in Indian Subcontinent. It shall apply to all persons engaged in the Specification, Design, Installation, Testing, Maintenance, commissioning or Management of signaling, telecommunications, and their subsystems, which could affect railway safety; and to persons involved with the training, supervision and management of those people.

Candidates desirous of an IRSE License may apply here, which shall authorize the RailTel - Rail Edutech Assessment Organization to assess the person who can satisfy the performance criteria and knowledge requirements laid down in the IRSE Licensing Scheme Competence Standards.
