The objective of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE), founded in 1912, is the advancement of the science and practice of railway signalling, telecommunications and related matters. Membership is open to any person engaged in the management, planning, design, installation, maintenance or manufacture of railway signalling or associated equipment. .
